Startup Weekend Jackson is a 54-hour event where developers, designers, marketers, product managers, and startup enthusiasts come together to share ideas, form teams, build products, and launch startups.

Once again, the event is coming to Jackson and this year, Startup Weekend Jackson will place an added emphasis on the technology-based solutions for the health care industry. Mobile technologies are transforming the way we work and play, including work in the health care field, and Startup Weekend Jackson is seeking innovators in the health care field, in addition to other mobile and tech-related startups.

Mobile technologies are transforming the health care field, and Startup Weekend Jackson is focusing this year’s Jackson competition on the medical and mobile health industry by seeking innovators, inventors and entrepreneurs in the health care field.

Mobile health is a $1.3 billion industry, and by 2018 it is expected to reach $20 billion! From hospitals using digital health technology to mobile remote patient monitoring to increasing medication compliance through wireless pill bottles, mobile technology is undeniably a driving force in today’s health care industry.

Building on these timely facts and the fact that the Jackson Metro area is brimming with health care facilities, physicians and other medical personnel, and pharmaceutical companies and researchers, Startup Weekend Jackson wants to capitalize on this digital health care revolution and help bring to life innovative ideas for tech startup ventures.

While the focus will primarily be health care technologies and will feature mentors, judges and sponsors from that industry, non-health care related ideas are also accepted. Additionally, those with expertise in marketing, design and development are encouraged to attend.

A block of rooms has been reserved at the Cabot Lodge Millsaps at a discount rate. Please call 601-960-3624 and mention Startup Weekend Jackson by Friday, May 2, to receive the discount rate.
